Objective: Provide mission and outreach opportunities to the students of the Illinois State University Wesley Foundation to benefit and express God’s love to our local and global community.
Ever fed 5000? Ever parted a sea with the wave of a hand? Ever caught enough fish to feed a village? Neither have we! But as college students we have the potential to give what we have: knowledge, strength, and unfaltering spirits! Our Mission and Service committee is aiming to do whatever we can, wherever we can, whenever we can for the betterment of God’s Kingdom. We are going to show God’s love by expressing God’s Will and Word through service because we know we are not only called to have a personal relationship with God, but to love our neighbors by reaching out to those in need. ( “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me” Mat 25:40) We are called to make a difference and we CAN do it through the beautiful example of grace and love through God.
We acknowledge that there are so many ways to serve God through service and here are some examples of the ways we have served in the last year:
Locally:
Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity in Bloomington Normal
Volunteering Home Sweet Home Ministries
Food Drives to benefit the homeless of Bloomington Normal
Volunteering at the Midwest Food Bank
Globally:
Spring Break trip to work with Habitat for Humanity in Greater Miami Coat Drive for the people of Afghanistan
Students donated two wells in Nana Cru, Liberia
Bake Sale for Nothing But Nets
